What are you fighting for? (:

They say before you start a war, you better know what you're fighting for.

Well, what am I fighting for?

Hmmmm.

Life seems to be just like a war to me. Endless battles. Each battle though, brings different meanings to me after it ends. Never have I won, never have I lost.

Each time it starts, I bring myself forward with a sword in my hand and a shield in the other. I fill myself with confidence which always seems to wear off before it even ends. Without an army behind me, I set out to face whatever that's coming for me. Standing alone, on a big field, looking out at what's coming for me, I only hope that I'll live and not just survive.

People always say that it doesn't matter whether you win or lose. It's the things that you learn from the process that matters the most. As I stand there watching the enemy charge at me, I hold up my shield and try to run. Never did I know that on this big field, there's no place to hide. I ran as fast as I could, dodging all the arrows and swords that were coming my way. I ran and ran and ran, feeling that this was never ending.

I was getting tired of all that running. It was like wasting energy on something pointless. I stopped and just stood there. I watched as the enemy came closer and closer and closer. The enemy was almost near. Instead of taking off, I just closed my eyes. I waited. I waited for it to happen. What, you ask? I was waiting for the time where the enemy's sword would pierce through my body and arrows stuck in different parts of me leaving me on this field, alone, in a blood bath. But, it never happened.

As I slowly opened my eyes, I saw the enemy standing infront me. I took that chance, my only chance to make things right. I threw my sword down to ground, not in surrender but asking for peace. I tried to make everything seem like a dream to the enemy. And for me, waking up from a nightmare.

Was I fighting for you?
